Anna Balecho is a Portuguese visual artist working across painting, photography, and writing.

For almost two decades, photography was her primary medium, documenting fashion, places, people, and the small details often overlooked by others.

Alongside her artistic practice, she built a career in branding, storytelling, and brand strategic communication, developing a lasting fascination with narrative, perception, and the construction of meaning.

Today, her work moves between photography and abstract painting, but the intention remains the same: to create visual narratives that explore memory, identity, perception, and the way we experience the world around us.

Whether working with a camera or a canvas, her practice is driven by observation - not only what is seen, but how it is interpreted.

Based in Ericeira, Portugal, Anna's work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Metal Magazine, and Dazed & Confused.

“I have always been interested in stories.

For almost two decades, photography was my way of telling them. Through fashion, places, people, and everyday observations, I used the camera to document the world as I saw it.

But documentation was never the final goal.

What interested me most was always the space between what is seen and what is felt. The stories we tell ourselves. The meaning we assign to images, memories, and experiences.

Today, my work moves between photography and painting, but the intention remains the same: to create visual narratives that invite interpretation rather than certainty.

Photography taught me how to observe.

Painting taught me how to imagine.

From now on, I'm not only documenting what I see, but I'm also reimagining it.”
